The State of California Department of Motor Vehicles requires a Vehicle Verifier Bond for any person who verifies vehicle documentation against the physical inspection of the vehicle in order to attest that they are accurately matched.

The bond ensures that the vehicle verifier doesn’t cause any loss to the state arising out of the activity under the Vehicle Verifier Permit, nor cause any loss to any individual as a result of incorrectly verifying an engine, vehicle verification number, or hull identification number.
